Mokume Gane
Mokume Gane Is an ancient Japanese metalworking process. The layering of many different pieces of metal produces a mixed-metal laminate. The finished result creates a distinctive layered pattern. Mokume gane translates closely to “wood grain metal” or “wood eye metal”, describing the way the metal takes on the appearance of natural wood grain.
First made in 17th-century Japan, Mokume-gane was used only for swords. Over time this technique has been used for various decorative objects and eventually made its way into modern Jewellery.
MG Jewellery Designs prides itself on manufacturing the finest Mokume Gane rings.
We Use several different metals to create stunning colour contrasts with unique patterns.
It is important to note that every Mokume Gane ring takes on its own unique pattern.
